I wrote this essay as part of a first year writing course I took this fall with Dr. Andrew Joseph Pegoda. To put this into context, I am a senior (5th year) undergraduate mathematics major taking this particular English core requirement for the third time. The original assignment was to define a mores or ritual in American culture. In freaking out I decided to write in a style that I was more familiar with. With that in mind, here is the result.
Who Cares About Your Genitals?
In 2003, Stephen Peter Gough began hiking naked through the United Kingdom “earning the nickname ‘the naked rambler’.” His more than thirty subsequent arrests resulted in “almost seven years in prison” (Gough 6 and 160). Given the potential consequences of public nudity, we can see how strongly western culture values the ritual of clothing oneself. Thus, we define socially mandated…
According to the Daily Star Online, the brazen lady was taking part in a social experiment and was fined £3,000 for public indecency.
The Star also reports that one of the men put his arm around the woman who brushed off his creepy advances.
The provocative female reportedly addressed the group of men saying: “It’s a social experiment, to show that we’re all good people.
“You are good, aren’t you, boys?”
Okay…not exactly the way to promote Naturism. More like a good way to promote being arrested. Meanwhile in other news a couple in the same area started having full on sex in the public view and no one gave a damn. Yeah I ain’t moving to Italy any time soon.
A person once said a picture is worth a thousand words. And he was right, it is. But this picture is supposed to help support the argument for women being topless in public in Sweden. This is the same nation that fucking bends over backwards to accommodate the Muslim refugees that are swarming the country. And with the number of rapes, and murders, tripling in the country due to Muslim refugees, why in God’s Holy Name would you want to push for topless equality at a time like this? Do you want to give the Muslim rapefugees a easier way to target who they can rape? Priorities here people of Sweden. Get them, and then get them in order.
Now the next thing i have to say about this picture is how off putting the two people in the picture. The both of them look very androgynous and like hipsters. Why not use two older people like a hairy chested male and a average looking female? Why does the picture use two young and somewhat ugly looking, androgynous hipsters. When i first saw this picture i looked at the male and my first thought was, “Why do they have a flat chested woman and not so flat chested woman in this picture? It makes no sense.” In other words the androgyny of the male completely throws the picture off and obscures the message. Sadly enough the Northern Europeans tendency to want to be SJW and PC destroys their own message in this case.
And so to get to the final point about this one must remember that the Topless movement does not support naturism . It is a feminist movement that only supports WOMEN BEING ALLOWED BY LAW TO BE TOPLESS IN PUBLIC THE SAME AS MEN. While we as naturist can support the Topless movement, do not expect the same Topless movement to come to our aid. Remember most of the Topless movement is populated by young feminist, liberal types who flit from one social justice topic to the next with no care for the wreckage they leave behind and many of them are so body shy they’d never go totally nude in public, let alone at a nudist resort or beach. So i say why bother supporting them unless it truly benefits us. These same women would be the first to protest public nudity on the basis that it may trigger a transsexual or some body shy person. After all these are the same people who think a naked, flaccid penis is some form psychological and physical aggression. So these people will never be okay with the law allowing men to walk around naked because penises trigger them. But some of them may be okay with women walking around nude because female body privilege and “muh patriarchy oppression” and all.
So after all these years this revelation finally hit me. All of you have been to the standard beach and as you look around you see the usual young girls in their skimpy two piece bikinis correct. And yet when you look at the old and fat you see this:
I never thought about it, i never even realized that yes we still discriminate against the old and the fat on the beach. You see the old and fat have been told, weather openly, through the media, and through going to the beach as well that they don’t own their own bodies the moment they hit the beach. They need to cover up because no one wants to see their fat and/or wrinkled bodies.
Now this is something that I could say that we as Naturist can point out and use it to encourage people to frequent nudist and topless beaches. But there is a problem. The problem is that young people still react harshly to seeing the old and overweight in the nude or topless, and many will stop coming to nude beaches and nude resorts if they feel they have to look at old bodies all day. Of course this is just egotism and youthful arrogance speaking, but it is a problem when we want to attract more young people to the Naturist lifestyle.
Suffice to say i don’t have any grand solutions to this. But i will say that by now you’d think that the fat and elderly women would have broken this mold of shame about their bodies and have strode onto the beach in a two piece bikini without any shame and ignoring the stink eye given to them by young people.
Sand Volleyball Courts, Peter’s Point, Rock Creek Park and Potomac Parkway, Washington D.C. May 2016. One of the more common “criticisms” of my walks through urban places is that I shouldn’t walk bare-chested where men don’t appear bare-chested. Aside from the obvious fallacies in that argument, I offer this photograph, taken less than a mile from my M Street walk, right in the heart of the city. Male bare-chestedness has become so normalized we don’t really see it anymore.
Right up front, the effects of the naturist male voice in the topfreedom conversation is a delicate subject for me.
Delicate because I personally appreciate the backing of naturists who support topfreedom for authentic reasons, (body positivity, gender equality, etc,) but I also hear a chord of inauthenticity from some who identify as male naturists.
I haven’t done the exact figuring, but I would guess that a majority percentage of my…
Previous this week my photos from the album I had created on Facebook and called:
“Celebration of the beautiful – natural, naked – woman body”
got reported to Facebook security.
The next time I tried to lock into my account I could not.
Instead I was a given a warning from Facebook.
“Remove any violating photos” It said.
Either you delete all photos containing any nudity, or we will delete your Facebook account.
I knew it was a matter of time before my photos would be reported.

I know Facebooks guidelines concerning nudity. I know many artists whom in the past have been trying to share their work (photos, videos etc) of the naked human body with their network on Facebook – but with same result as my attempt had.
A couple of years ago the Danish writer Peter Øvig…
